Ode to an Overcast Day

*15 minute writing challenge*

I love overcast days. Even better if its misty or rainy.

I love it because its quiet. The world around me seems to slow down.

I love the chill in the air. It feels revitalizing. The chill wakes you up while also making you crave warm, soft blankets and hot drinks.

I love the dim light that fights its way through my curtains to bathe my room in a soft glow in the morning. Its a distinct light that lets you know what will greet you when you pull back the curtains.

In the fall the gray skies contrast perfectly with the orange, red and yellow leaves on the trees. It makes the colors pop, vibrant and beautiful.

I love the damp smell of an overcast day.

I love the way it tells you to slow down, savor the day. Stay warm. The brisk air is wonderful. It always seems to refresh my eyes. I feel more alert. It wakes me up better than anything else.

I wish I could live in a place with more crisp days.

I love them.

In fall and winter, the sun gives you a gentle wake-up call, like soft music, rather than the loud light of summer, which wakes you up like the harsh buzz of an alarm clock.

An overcast day is a day of introspection. Let the cold air refresh you, wake up your senses and get ready for a more relaxed way of being.
